Olde Town Sights

Olde Town Grove City has recently completed the second year of its mural program. Olde Town Grove City has been the recipients of a grant that brings young artists and other college students into the community to create public art through the Pennsylvania Downtown Center and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. The most recent mural, pictured here, is painted on the side of the historic Guthrie Theatre, at 232 S. Broad. The mural is approximately 24 feet tall and 46 feet wide. This is the first year of a two-part mural, celebrating historical events and people from Grove City's past; next year's second part will complete the mural across the side of the building.

The first mural in our program is located on the side of Antiques by the Yard, 118 S. Broad Street, and celebrates the community in the bright colors of the countryside and the future of Grove City.

For the second year in a row, GCC college students partnered with Olde Town businesses and competed to have the best-decorated window for Grove City College’s Homecoming. This year, ten different organizations painted windows in designs of their choice with the theme Through the Decades. This year, over 600 ballots were cast and the winning window went to Sigma Theta Chi on the window of Blume ‘N Hair. The winner was announced at the halftime of the homecoming football game and they receive a check for $200 for their organization. Nobody is a loser; all of the organizations participating in the contest receive free passes to the Guthrie Theatre.
